On June 9, 2025, 27 participants gathered for the VAWNET Partners’ Conference at ASAS Montealegre, hosted by the Municipality of San Francisco. The conference highlighted the integration of the Local Council Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women & Children (VAWC) with the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) as mandated by the new JMC dated December 2, 2024, issued by PCW, DILG, NEDA, and DBM, which outlines the Revised Guidelines for the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women. It was suggested that the annual GAD plans of partner local government units (LGUs) be revisited by the new JMC. Participants agreed on revisiting GAD plans and strengthening GFPS.
The major focus of the program was men’s involvement in VAWC prevention, with discussions aligning with Father’s Day & the proposed ERPART Congress in 2026. LGUs shared updates: San Francisco, Pilar, and Poro (starting) are in various growth stages, while Tudela has no update yet. Training support and budget support were also discussed. LAW Inc. reported 41 clients from Camotes since 2021, emphasizing VAWC-related cases and the courage of the survivors to come out in the open.
